Menopause migraine cures may be simpler than you think

 Eating food with sugar can be a physical trigger factor for a migraine – not to mention a whole whack of other problems at menopause.

Migraines can also be caused by food allergies, weather changes, lack of sleep, the earth’s natural radiation, electromagnetic pollution (e.g. microwave, power lines, radio clocks), metabolism problems in the liver, gall bladder or pancreas, accumulated lymph or hormonal disturbances. Food, drink and tobacco (red wine, chocolate, cheese), hormonal changes (e.g. during the menstrual cycle or menopause) can also trigger migraines, emotional stress, foods and additives (such as nitrates, nitrites, sulfites, MSG, and artificial sweeteners), or chemicals (such as air pollutants, chlorine, pesticides, colognes, and ingredients in cleaning products).

 And there’s another important underlying factor to consider - what’s going on with you emotionally could be the REAL migraine trigger!

I’ll warn you right now, that what follows will demand that you be honest with yourself, if you truly want to get over having migraines.

 Typical migraine sufferers are perfectionists. If that’s you, you may want to consider asking yourself a few questions the next time you feel a migraine coming on. Are demands are being made on you that you’re worried you can’t achieve? Are you frustrated with unfulfilled plans, an overload of information and an inability to integrate it? Are you feeling pressure to get something done? Does the thought of it cause you pain? Are you angry about this situation? Is there something that you have to achieve or do that’s creating fear or resistance in you – does your role in the situation make you feel ‘wrong’ or inadequate?

 While no one could accuse you of consciously choosing to get a migraine, you may want to consider if your migraine is a way of taking time out, and of getting the love and attention you’ve been craving.

Metaphysical book author Lise Bourbeau says migraines are most common in those who will not allow themselves to live according to their true nature. She suggests migraine sufferers ask themselves: “If every circumstance around me had been perfect, what would I have wanted to BE, or what do I want to BE now if circumstances would allow?”This is a great question for women during their menopausal years. What do you REALLY want to do with the rest of your life?

If you suffer from migraines, take a look at your sexual relationship, suggests Bourbeau. You most likely are having difficulties in that area also, because you’re out of touch with your power to create your life, which is reflected in the sexual organs…

Ok, that’s fine, you say, you’ll work on it, but you have a migraine NOW. It’s a rather unorthodox approach and you may think it’s shocking or too ridiculous, but… in the privacy of your bed, you could consider author Louise Hay’s migraine ‘prescription’: “Interestingly, migraine headaches can almost always be alleviated by masturbation if you do it as soon as you feel a migraine coming on. The sexual release dissolves the tension and the pain. You may not feel like masturbating then, but it certainly is worth a try. You can’t lose.” Does this mean your migraine is caused by lack of orgasms? Maybe. It could also mean the release you feel takes away some of the pressure you’ve been feeling and will give you time to come up with a better solution than carrying all that pressure.

At the very least, take a few moments to make the choice to forgive yourself for your perceived inadequacy, and let it go. There’s no one more critical of you than you, and there’s no one who can love you well, except you.
