Stinging nettle, oatstraw and red clover herbs heal menopause challenges naturally

Everyone knows that calcium is an important mineral for good health. But did you know that it helps prevent cognitive impairment, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular disease, gum disease, and cancer? And it helps lower blood pressure and prevent bone loss associated with osteoporosis.

A simple and inexpensive solution is drinking calcium-rich herbal infusions every day. Herbs with the most calcium include stinging nettle, oatstraw, alfalfa, burdock root, cayenne, chamomile, fennel seed, hops, horsetail, lemongrass, parsley, peppermint, plantain, raspberry leaves, red clover, rose hips, shepherd’s purse, violet leaves, yarrow and yellow dock. Kelp and flaxseed also contain calcium.

An herbal tea is made with 1 to 2 tsp dried herb and steeped for about 10 minutes. An infusion uses more plant material and it’s steeped longer than an herbal tea to break down the plant material and allow a large amount of nutrients and medicinal substances to end up in the infusion.

How do you make an infusion?

Susun Weed advises…place one ounce of dried herb (equal to 1/4 lb of fresh herbs) in a 500 ml (1 pint) jar. Pour just-boiled water over the herbs. Cover and let sit at room temperature (flowers: 2 hours maximum; leaves: 4 hours; flowers, leaves & stalks: 4 hours; seeds & berries: 30 minutes maximum; roots: 8 hours or overnight.) Long steeping extracts chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals and other medicinal components. Drink at room temperature, hot or iced. Refrigerate what is not used immediately.

How much to drink daily?

2 cups for a person weighing 125 to 150 lbs.
